We are delighted to present the renowned contemporary Chinese ink painter Wei Ligang's musings on Chloe Ho's contemporary ink works. Extracted from two essays, the first written in 2014 following Chloe's apprenticeship at Wei's studio in Beijing during the winter of 2013, and the second published in the 2017 exhibition catalogue Ascendence, Wei Ligang reflects on particular paintings by Chloe as well as on her painting style and presence.

Here we compare Huang's painting with an oil on canvas work entitled Red Dragonfly by one of the great founders of Modern Chinese Painting, Wu Guanzhong.
