Italian architect, designer, artist, writer and publisher
Atrailblazer in industrial design, Gio Ponti introduced the idea of interior furnishing which fuses art, architecture and design to create an environment that is both modern and classic. His career spanned over six decades, having collaborated with more than a hundred brands and constructed buildings in thirteen countries. From homewares to furniture to architecture, his works have been exhibited in major museums and continue to inspire generations of designers. Among his most famous buildings are the Pirelli Tower, built from 1956 to 1960 in Milan in collaboration with the engineer Pier Luigi Nervi and the Villa Planchart in Caracas.
Ponti was also the founder of the Domus magazine, a leading magazine in architecture and interior design; it is still being published today to promote innovative design thinking,
