Today, on 30 January 2025, we joyfully commemorate what would have been the 90th birthday of the late Hsiao Chin (1935 - 2023), a pioneering figure in post-war abstract art. In honour of Master Hsiao’s remarkable legacy and enduring impact on the art world, 3812 Gallery is thrilled to announce the “Light of Hope – Hsiao Chin 90th Anniversary Retrospective Exhibition” at the Guangdong Museum of Art in Guangzhou, opening in late April 2025.
“I have experienced a lot of darkness in my life, but the Heavens have given me the darkness so that I could understand where the light is. There is no darkness in this world, there is only light; it is up to us whether we see it.”
— Hsiao Chin
The theme of “Light” has woven its way through Hsiao’s creative journey for seven decades, symbolising the power of life itself. This exhibition invites us to reconnect with our inner luminosity, find solace in the eternal rhythms of nature, and recognise the profound light that resides within us all.
