3812 Gallery presents dual online and gallery presentations of abstract works by master Eastern artists Hsiao Chin, side by side with paintings from Modern British artist Sir Terry Frost (RA), fostering conversations and exchanges between the East and West.

Hsiao Chin, founder of the “Punto International Art Movement”, is a prominent figure in the international post-war art scene, active in both Eastern and Western art circles. He draws on his studies of Eastern philosophy to fuse motifs and techniques from East and West, to create geometric, spiritual abstractions. Hsiao has had a many solo and group exhibitions globally in prominent institutions including Mark Rothko Art Centre (Daugavpils) and Guimet National Museum of Asian Arts (Paris). His works can be found in the collections from the Metropolitan Museum (New York) to M+ Museum (Hong Kong).
Terry Frost has garnered international recognition and was a leading exponent of abstract art. His striking works feature natural forms as emblems of abstract forces, with the sun and the moon depicted as his self-declared ‘two gods'. Frost’s works are collected by world- renowned museums from Tate to the Metropolitan in New York. Like Hsiao Chin, he has been exhibited at the prestigious Mark Rothko Art Centre next to Rothko's own paintings.

Alongside Hsiao and Frost, the exhibition also presents artworks from two other prominent British and Chinese abstract artists: Albert Irvin, who made wonderfully celebratory symphonies of colour and Li Lei, who created a distinctive path for poetic abstraction by combining Chinese philosophy with international abstract techniques.
Our Masterpiece presentation aims to explore what unites these artists, what makes them distinctive, and to create a conversation between the East and West.
